Art I- 

Cost: $7.50 per semester

Grade Level: 10-12

Art I is designed to give the beginning art student a foundation in art through the study and creation of artworks. Students will study the building blocks of art creation called, “The Elements of Art and the Principles of Design.” Students will gain further understanding of master works of art through the study of art history and different movements (or periods). Students will be able to critically evaluate masterworks, their own work, and the work of others. Students will gain studio skills and experience through the creation of artworks using a variety of media to create 2- and 3-dimensional artworks.

Art education is an essential component of a well-rounded high school education. Art I is a course that fulfills the requirements for all students for credit in Fine Arts. This course offers basic skills in techniques, use of elements, and principles of design, problem-solving, creative reasoning, manipulation of various media, self-expression, and evaluation. Students should experience art as an integral part of history, culture, and other cross-curricular areas.

Art II- 

Prerequisite: Art I

Cost: $7.50 per semester

Grade Level: 10-12

Art II has been developed as an extension of Art I. Students will further explore applications of elements and principles of visual design. This program will build upon knowledge from Art I and will provide an opportunity for students to investigate and experiment with visual media in a personalized way. Students will also develop a greater understanding and appreciation of art history and culture.

Art Education is an essential component of a well-rounded high school education. Art II is a course that expands on the curriculum of Art I. Students are offered an advanced level of problem solving as well as reinforcement of essential elements of the Art I curriculum. A further study into the masterworks of great artists and skill offer necessary skills for any student planning a career in the area of art, drafting, or art education.

Ceramics- 

Cost: $7.50 per semester

Grade Level: 10-12

This elective course introduces students to ceramics through hand building three dimensional objects in clay. Students will learn construction of forms and surface decoration using the elements of art and the principles of design.
