<\/p>\n

The A+ School Program is a school-improvement initiative<\/span><\/p>\n

established by the Outstanding School Act of 1993.\u00a0 The program is<\/span><\/p>\n

raising academic standards, opening new doors to higher education<\/span><\/p>\n

an introducing students to the teaching profession through tutoring<\/span><\/p>\n

and mentoring activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The focus of an A+ School is on what the student can do.\u00a0 Can the <\/span><\/p>\n

student actually apply his or her knowledge?\u00a0 Can the student <\/span><\/p>\n

demonstrate that he or she has developed the needed skills?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This\u00a0 programs provides incentives for local high schools to:<\/span><\/p>\n

reduce the dropout rate,<\/span><\/p>\n

raise academic expectations and eliminate “general track” courses,<\/span><\/p>\n

provide better “career pathways” for all students,<\/span><\/p>\n

develop a school\/business partnership plan to work more closely with business<\/span><\/p>\n

and for higher-education leaders,<\/span><\/p>\n

establish measurable performance standards for individual courses<\/span><\/p>\n

and for graduation, and<\/span><\/p>\n

provide rigorous course work with standards of competency in all<\/span><\/p>\n

academic subjects.<\/span><\/p>\n

The A+ Schools’ concept expects All Students<\/b> to achieve at a high level. <\/span><\/p>\n

The faculty and staff of Potosi High School continue to gain knowledge and enhance course work to <\/span><\/p>\n
